Court visits and court reporting are subject to extremely strict laws and regulations in the United Kingdom. One single wrong word or careless action can bring a trial to a halt and you could risk being in contempt of court.
In the first semester of my studies, I had the opportunity to learn the rules of the game in court. Our assignment as television journalism students: We were to visit a court and report on an ongoing case. Twice I followed trials at the Central Criminal Court in London, the “Old Bailey.”
This court report is about a man who was sentenced to more than 30 months in prison for stalking and threatening his ex-partner in december 2021.
