journalism & media creation

Hi, I’m Lukas Lottersberger.

I am a passionate journalist with a lens for informative, fascinating, extraordinary and underrepresented stories.

I am currently based in Berlin and working freelance as a Desk Editor for DW, for its German and English TV News programmes.

My journalistic career started in 2014 with an intensive one-year traineeship – the ORF Akademie – at the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF).

After that, I was a reporter, co-presenter, editor and social media editor for more than six years at Radio FM4, a bilingual public radio station. On the FM4 website and in the FM4 archive you can find my online stories and features from that time.

In 2020, I ventured into television territory and worked for the ORF regional studio Tyrol as well as for Magazin 1 and Hallo Österreich, two magazine programmes on ORF 1.

In 2021, I had the opportunity to start a Master’s in TV journalism at Goldsmiths, University of London.

This practical and full-on course has deepened my knowledge and skills, challenged me intellectually and allowed me to exchange and implement ideas with many talented people. I graduated with distinction in 2022.

I was able to shoot a short documentary (“solo doc” = self-directed and self-produced) in Lagos/Nigeria about the use of cryptocurrencies, and in our group documentary we collected different views on veganism in the UK and the possible impact of the Animal Sentience Act, which classifies animals as sentient beings.

Here you can find a showreel of work from the Master’s programme.

If you have an interesting story idea, questions or tips for me, drop me a line!
