Hi there!

I’m Lukas Lottersberger – an internationally experienced multimedia journalist with a passion for informative storytelling – in news, as well as for environmental reporting, and underrepresented stories.

I live in Berlin and work freelance and in various roles for DW (Deutsche Welle), Germany’s international broadcaster.

In DW’s newsroom, I serve as a reporter, newsgatherer, and on-air editor, contributing to news coverage, breaking news, and in-depth reporting. Additionally, I am a reporter for DW’s environmental magazine show, Eco Africa, where I cover global environmental issues, with a focus on innovations and solutions from the African continent.

My expertise spans various fields, such as news reporting for TV and radio, producing, video editing, and documentary filmmaking in front and behind the camera.

Professional Experience

My journey in journalism began in 2014 with an intensive one-year traineeship at the ORF Akademie, part of the ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation). Over the years, I have worked across various platforms, from radio to television and digital media. I spent over six years at Radio FM4 as a reporter, co-presenter and social media editor, producing features and online stories, many of which can be found in the FM4 online archive. In 2020, I transitioned into television, working temporarily for ORF’s Magazin 1, Hallo Österreich, and for ORF’s regional news coverage in Tyrol. A subsidised one-year educational leave program allowed me to do a Master’s degree in TV Journalism at Goldsmiths, University of London.
